Barbados: Crop Over Festival:Der internationale Festivalkalender kennt viele Highlights und Crop Over auf Barbados, der östlichste Erntedank- Karneval der Karibik, kann in einem Atemzug mit Karneval in Rio, Fassenacht in Meenz, Queensday in Amsterdam, Fullmoon-Party auf Koh Pan Ghan, Mardi Grass in Nimbin, Heilala-Festival auf Tonga, Karneval auf Trinidad... genannt werden: Zur Zeit der Zuckerrohrernte, wenn die Zuckerrohrmühlen auf Barbados tags und nachts dampfen, strömen tausende barbedianische Expats und partyhungrige Touristen auf die kleine, aber mit 110km feinstem Sandstrand gesegnete Karibikinsel... Wochen vorher starten die Vorbereitungen auf diesen Crop-Over-Partymarathon, der auf Barbados vom ersten Julisamstag bis zum ersten Augustmontag dauert: Zelte aufbauen, Kostüme nähen, Calypso proben und Geld sammeln für den Tag der Tage: Kadooment Day... |
Barbados: Crop Over Festival:The Crop Over Festival on Barbados fits well into the list of world-famous recurrent party-highlights like Carnival in Rio, Fassenacht in Meenz, Queensday in Amsterdam, Fullmoon-Party on Koh Pan Ghan, Mardi Grass in Nimbin, Heilala-Festival on Tonga...: Thousands of partypeople - bajan expats as well as tourists - pay a visit to Barbados for the Crop-Over-Party-Marathon that starts the 1st Saturday in July and culminates on Kadooment Day, the 1st Monday in August. Barbados starts to heat up many weeks in advance of this big harvest festival-carnival . This is true for the few sugar mills as for the population: Tents are risen, costumes sewn, Calypso rehearsed and money is gathered.for this maxi-top-event of the bajan island, that is actually well used to all-day and all-night parties any other day all around the year... |
